Gates Cambridge Scholarship

Program Information

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship is a highly competitive full-cost award for full-time graduate study and research in any subject available at the University of Cambridge. Scholarships are awarded on the following criteria: academic excellence, leadership potential, a commitment to improving the lives of others, and a good academic fit with Cambridge.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship you must be:
  • A citizen of any country outside the United Kingdom
  • Pursuing one of the following full-time residential courses of study DPhil (three year research-only degree); a one year postgraduate course (e.g., MPhil, LLM, MASt, etc); MSc or MLitt (two year research-only degree) in any subject available at the University of Cambridge
  • Applying for and gain admission to one of the degrees above at Cambridge through the University's normal admission procedures
  • Able to show evidence of high academic achievement, leadership potential, social commitment, and fit with Cambridge

Award Information

Generally the scholarship covers the full cost of studying at Cambridge and is awarded for the length of the academic course to which the scholar is admitted. The total amount of the award varies depending on a number of factors.
