Mitchell Scholarship

Program Information

The Mitchell Scholarship is sponsored by the US-Ireland Alliance and was named to honor former US Senator George Mitchell's contribution to the Northern Ireland peace process. The program is designed to introduce and connect generations of future American leaders to Ireland. Mitchell Scholars are selected based on the following criteria: scholarship, leadership, and a sustained commitment to service and community.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a Mitchell Scholarship you must gain the WVU endorsement and be:

  • A U.S. citizen
  • At least 18 years of age, but not yet 30 years old by September 29th of the year you apply
  • In the final year of your undergraduate degree (i.e., will have a Bachelor's degree by the time the grant begins)

Award Information

The Mitchell Scholarship provides tuition, housing, and a monthly living expenses stipend for up to one year of postgraduate study in any discipline offered by institutions of higher learning in Ireland. One round-trip airline ticket between the US and Ireland is also provided.
