Cate Johnson

Director (she/her)

Cate Johnson joined the ASPIRE Office as a Program Coordinator in 2013 and became Director of ASPIRE in 2024. She graduated in 2012 from WVU with an MA in Geography and graduate certificates in both Women and Gender Studies and Nonprofit Management.

She completed her BS at Shepherd University in Political Science. Cate’s research interests include women’s empowerment and grassroots international development.

She and her husband (a WVU alum) have two daughters from Timor-Leste, a young son, and a baby girl. She stays busy facilitating her children's social schedules and being active in serving her community. Cate loves meeting new students and helping them find opportunities for scholarships and fellowships! She also loves leading study abroad trips - so far she has lead trips to Brazil, Bahrain, Timor-Leste and Indonesia, Jordan, and Estonia!
